The Brief

A double-height great room, brought to ground.

A two-story volume on a wooded lot, held by floor-to-ceiling oak millwork, a single sculptural pendant, and a low U-shaped sectional that invites the room to settle around the fireplace.

Living Room Specification

Oak, bouclé, blackened wood, and a quiet stone.

The palette is layered around the existing oak millwork: neutral bouclé and ribbed wool to soften the volume, blackened wood and dark metal to weight the joinery, and a single travertine slab to ground the hearth.
